PENSACOLA, FL. - The Grand Valley men's golf team is down in the Sunshine State for a loaded Argonaut Invitational. The event features 10 teams ranked in the top 25 of either Golfstat of Coaches' Association. After the first two rounds, GVSU is in sixth place, led by
Charles DeLong in first place individually.
Host West Florida is first at -6, followed by Columbus State and Limestone tied for second at one over. Georgia Southwestern is in fourth at three over, while Lincoln Memorial comes in at fifth, shooting a five over. GVSU is only two strokes behind at seven over in sixth place.
Charles DeLong ended day one in first place, leading by one stroke, carding rounds of 69 and 67 and is -8. DeLong sunk five birdies in the first round and then six more in round two.
Nick Krueger shot rounds of 74 and 72 and is at +2 after the first two rounds, sitting in a tie for 23
rd. Krueger tallied five birdies in both rounds today.
Charlie Cooley is in a tie for 41
st, carding rounds of 77 and 73, recording six birdies today.
Bryce Wheeler is tied for 58
th, tallying rounds of 76 and 77, sinking three birdies.
Drew Coble also sank three birdies today, shooting rounds of 81 and 75 and is tied for 76
th.
The Lakers will play the final round of play tomorrow down at the Pensacola Country Club.
