The Grand Valley State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Wayne State in the 2023 GLIAC Tournament Championship match. The marathon match lasted nearly five hours. The Lakers will now await NCAA selection on Monday (April 24) to see what seed they will receive.
The Lakers claimed the doubles point, claiming wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 slot.
Taylor Barrett and
Vasileia Griva won a 7-6 (7-4) decision at No. 1, while
Rachel Sam and Nia Hernandez claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Singles action was as tightly contested as a match could be and all six matches had to be played out.
