ALLENDALE—The Grand Valley State softball team beat Saginaw Valley State, 7-0, on Wednesday evening at the GVSU Softball Field.

Hannah Beatus dazzled on the mound once again on Wednesday for GVSU (31-3, 13-0 GLIAC). She tossed a complete game and struck out 10 batters. She allowed five hits and walked two batters but shut out the Cardinals (28-11, 12-5). Beatus picked up her 16th victory this season. The victory also marks the 15th in a row for the Lakers.

The Laker offense got on the board quick with a two-run first inning.

With two outs,
Morgan Wagner drove in
Joanna Cirrincione to get GVSU on the board. After a single from
Kelsey Komorous,
Morgan Spicer singled through the left side and brought Wagner in for the second Laker run of the inning, giving them a, 2-0, lead after one inning.

GVSU would strike again in the fourth inning.
Eliana Eiland tried to steal second base but was thrown out, and
Hannah Hollister advanced home on the throw down to second base, making it a, 3-0, Laker lead.

The Lakers would double their lead in the fifth inning.

Wagner walked with the bases loaded and
Kaitlin Lynch scored to make it, 4-0, in favor of GVSU. In the next at-bat, Komorous sent a fly ball to the warning track in right-center field and brought home
Lydia Goble and Cirrincione on her sacrifice fly. The Lakers led it, 6-0, after five innings.

Cirrincione singled home
Megan Koenigshof in the sixth inning to tack on another GVSU run, making it, 7-0. The Chicago native finished the game 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was unable to be played due to lightning in the area. No make-up date has been set for that game. Stay tuned to @GVSUSoftball and gvsulakers.com for updates on if a make-up game is scheduled.

The Lakers next action comes at 1 p.m. on Saturday for a doubleheader against Davenport at the GVSU Softball Field.
