GRAND RAPIDS – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team claimed a 4-3 win over Purdue Northwest Saturday (April 1) evening at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improve to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in GLIAC play.
The Lakers claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Jack Dausman and
Freddy Cossio earned a 6-3 win at No.2 doubles.
Martin Matov and
Ignasi Garros tallied a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Unai Gonzalez claimed a 6-3, 7-6 straight set win at no. 1 singles.
Denys Zamaraiev improved to 6-1 in singles play this season after earning a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas tallied his ninth singles win of the season after a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Sebastian Arce dropped a tough 4-6, 6-4, 3-6 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
Freddy Cossio lost a tough 4-6, 6-2, 2-6 three-set decision at No. 4 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda dropped a tough 5-7, 4-6 decision at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will return to the courts next week Saturday (April 8) when they host rival Ferris State on senior day. First serve is slated for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
