CLERMONT, Fla.—The Grand Valley State softball team swept a pair of games in The Spring Games, beating Minnesota State-Mankato, 2-0, and defeating Seton Hill, 7-1, on Tuesday.

GAME 1 – GVSU 2, Minnesota State-Mankato 0

The Lakers defeated the Mavericks, 2-0, behind a shutout performance from
Hannah Beatus in the circle.
Â
Beatus tossed seven shutout innings and allowed just four hits to the Mavericks. Beatus also struck out nine batters and issued two walks to cap off a complete-game shutout.

In the second inning, GVSU capitalized on a Minnesota State-Mankato error when the Mavericks' second baseman bobbled the ball in an attempt to make the final putout of the inning at second base. The bobble threw all of the timing off and
Lydia Goble scored on the play to give the Lakers a, 1-0, advantage.

Goble helped tack on GVSU's second run, doubling in the third inning.
Hannah Hollister scored on the play for the final scoring of the game.

GAME 2 – GVSU 7, Seton Hill 1

The GVSU offense posted seven runs in its second game of the day to take down Seton Hill.

Joanna Cirrincione drove in
Lydia Goble in the first inning gave GVSU a, 2-0, lead. She followed it up with an RBI groundout to the first baseman to extend the lead to, 3-0.Â

The Lakers scored twice more in the fourth inningon Goble and
Morgan Spicer RBI singles. Cirrincione stole home in the fifth inning and scored in the sixth inning on a
Liberti Fair sacrifice fly to conclude GVSU' seven-run effort.

GVSU gave up one run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI double.
Â
Ashley Platek allowed just one run on five hits in seven innings of work. Platek struck out nine batters in seven innings of work, earning her fourth victory of the season.
