CLERMONT, Fla.—The Grand Valley State softball team swept another day of games at The Spring Games, taking down Missouri-St. Louis, 5-1, and beating Upper Iowa, 5-3, on Thursday.

GAME 1 – GVSU 5, UMSL 1

The Laker softball team got out to an early start, scoring three runs in the first two innings.

Joanna Cirinncione singled with the bases loaded to drive in Hannah Hollister, putting GVSU up, 1-0, after the first inning.

In the fifth inning, Spicer stepped into the batter's box and hit a two-RBI single to score Jenna Ballard and Alexis McCullough. The Lakers led it, 5-0, heading into the final inning.

UMSL would get on the board in the seventh inning, scoring on a single with a pair of runners on base. That was the only run the Tritons would score.

GAME 2 – GVSU 5, Upper Iowa 3

GVSU scored twice in the top half of the seventh inning to defeat Upper Iowa.

Headed into the final frame tied at three, the Lakers took a, 4-3, lead when Eliana Eiland scored on an Upper Iowa error. GVSU tacked on another run on a fielder's choice RBI for Lydia Goble that scored Hannah Hollister.

Goble also kicked off the scoring for the Lakers against Upper Iowa. In the top of the first inning, Goble tripled to score Kaitlin Lynch. She then scored on a wild pitch to give the Lakers a, 2-0, lead.

After an Upper Iowa run in the bottom of the first, Liberti Fair doubled home Eiland to make the Lakers' lead, 3-1.

Upper Iowa would answer with a pair of runs in the fifth inning to set up the tied score in the final two innings.
