MEMPHIS, TENN. – The Grand Valley men's golf team started their spring season at the Buccaneer Spring Classic, and after the first day the Lakers sit in second place at six under par.
Host Christian Brothers leads the way after day one at -10, four strokes up on GVSU who is at six under. Union is third at +14, Mississippi College is in fourth at +15, and Lincoln University is fifth, shooting 39 over.
Charles DeLong leads the way in fourth place at -2. DeLong had six birdies today and shot a 131 today before the second round was stopped due to darkness.
Charlie Cooley is one shot back of DeLong in a tie for sixth, shooting one under. Cooley birdied nine holes today, with five coming in the second round.
Nick Krueger is also tied for sixth, tallying nine birdies today.
Drew Coble and
Bryce Wheeler are both tied for 11
th at one over par. Coble birdied nine holes, while Wheeler recorded seven birdies.
The Lakers will finish off the final two holes of the second-round tomorrow morning, before playing round three afterwards. Tee-off for tomorrow morning is scheduled for 9:30 am eastern time.
