GRAND RAPIDS – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Davenport 5-2 Friday (March 31) afternoon at Grand Rapids Racquet Club. The Lakers improve to 9-6 overall on the season and 1-1 in GLIAC play.
The Lakers claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Unai Gonzalez and
Sean Miller claimed a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Martin Matov and
Ignasi Garros earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Unai Gonzalez claimed a 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 three-set win at No. 1 singles.
Jack Dausman tallied a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Freddy Cossio earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas claimed a 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 three-set win at No. 6 singles.
Sean Miller lost a tough 6-1, 3-6, 2-6 three-set decision at No. 3 singles.
Sebastian Arce dropped a tough 3-6, 3-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers return to the court tomorrow (April 1) when they continue GLIAC play at home against Purdue Northwest. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
