GRAND RAPIDS – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision in the GLIAC opener against #10 Wayne State Saturday (March 25) evening at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers fall to 8-6 on the season, while Wayne State improves to 11-9.
Wayne State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 doubles.
Sean Miller and
Unai Gonzalez dropped a tough 3-6 decision at No. 1 doubles.
Jack Dausman and
Freddy Cossio dropped a tough 6-7 decision at No. 2 doubles.
Martin Matov and
Ignasi Garros dropped a tough 3-6 decision at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Ignacio Morera-Lucas earned his seventh singles win of the season with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 three-set win at No. 6 singles.
Unai Gonzalez dropped a tough 3-6, 6-4, 4-6 three-set decision at No. 1 singles.
Sean Miller lost a tough 4-6, 3-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
Denys Zamaraiev dropped a tough 5-7, 6-1, 1-6 three-set match at No. 3 singles.
The Lakers will be back next weekend Friday (March 31) when they travel to Davenport for a conference match at 1:00 PM.
