CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this spring in only two tournaments, the Grand Valley State men's golf team picked up a tournament victory. The Lakers won the Hargett Memorial Invite by 19 strokes, led by
Charles DeLong's 10
th career win, who shot a four under in the final round to pull away for the win.
The Lakers shot a final round of 286 (-2) to take control of the event and come away with a dominating win, as they shot one under for the tournament. Belmont Abbey finished in second at +18, followed by Shorter at nineteen over. Wingate came in fourth, shooting a +24, while Flagler and Lenoir-Rhyne were tied for fifth at +25.
DeLong shot a final round of 68 (-4) after two rounds of 69 yesterday, ending the tournament at -10, sinking six birdies in the final round.
Nick Krueger had a big final round, shooting a 69 (-3), carding six birdies, including a run of four straight, to end the tournament at four under in a tie for third.
Bryce Wheeler was tied for 25
th at eight over, carding a final round of 79 with two birdies.
Drew Coble ended the tournament in a tie for 33
rd, shooting a final round score of 75, ending at +10 with two birdies in the final round.
Charlie Cooley had two more birdies in the third round today, shooting a 74, ending the tournament in a tie for 43
rd at +13.
