ALLENDALE--The Grand Valley State men's basketball team travels across the greater Grand Rapids area to take on Davenport at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Davenport Student Center. The matchup can be seen live online via FloSports with a paid subscription. The game will be aired on radio on The Ticket (106.1 FM) with Bryan Fongers on the call.

The Lakers' win streak came to a close on Saturday against Parkside. GVSU lost, 73-62, to the Rangers. The post play was again strong for GVSU. Marius Grazulis and Chinedu Kingsley Okanu scored 14 points apiece to lead the Lakers in scoring on Saturday. The Laker bigs went a combined 14-for-19 from the field.

The Lakers took the first matchup of the season between GVSU and Davenport. GVSU won a home game, 87-73, on Dec. 11. In the December victory, Isaiah Carver-Bagley earned a double-double, scoring 16 points and collecting 10 rebounds for the Lakers. Marius Grazulis (13), Luke Toliver (12) and Jalen Charity (10) also got into double figures in scoring for the Lakers.

GVSU held Marcedus Leech Jr. to just 18 points in December. The second-leading scorer in the GLIAC has put up 10 or more points in all but one of the Panthers' games so far, including 12 20-plus point games and two 30-plus point games. His two 30-point performances have come in the Panthers' three most recent games.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Davenport has struggled recently, dropping six of its last eight contests, including a three-game losing skid. The Panthers are ranked 10th in the GLIAC in scoring defense, allowing nearly 80 points per game. Davenport is one of the better 3-point shooting teams in the country, making 38.5 percent of its shots from distance, which ranks 31st in the country.

Marcedus Leech Jr. is the motor for the Panthers' offense. He is the second-leading scorer in the conference at 20.3 points per game. Leech Jr. is shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 40.8 percent from 3-point range. Leech Jr. has been on a tear. In the past five games, he is averaging 27 points and nine field goals.

DOWN THE STRETCH WE GO
The Lakers head into the final month of regular season play on Saturday. GVSU has seven regular season games remaining, four of which are at the friendly confines of the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. Saturday's matchup isn't far from home either. Davenport is a little over a 30-minute drive for the Lakers. The combined record of GVSU's final seven opponents sits at 72-74 heading into the final stretch of games.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Rebounding is an emphasis for the Lakers and it shows up on the stats sheet. GVSU is tied for No. 50 in rebounding margin, averaging 4.3 more rebounds per game than its opponents. The mark also ranks third in the GLIAC. The Lakers are second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game with 10.86 offensive boards per game. That is good enough to rank 90th in the country.
