ALLENDALE, MICH. – The postseason has arrived for the GVSU women's basketball team, as they get set to host Purdue Northwest in a GLIAC Quarterfinal matchup tomorrow night. The top-seeded Lakers will take on the eighth-seeded Pride for the third time this season tomorrow night at 6:00 in the Fieldhouse.
GVSU won the first two matchups this season, taking the first one 62-54 on the road.
Ellie Droste,
Emily Spitzley, and
Nicole Kamin all scored in double-figures to lead the Lakers to the win in the back-and-forth affair. In the second meeting, it was a totally different story, as GVSU dominated from the start and never trailed after the first two minutes of the game to win 88-47 in Allendale. In that game, Spitzley led the way with 15 points, while
Rylie Bisballe added 14 points and nine rebounds and
Abrie Cabana scored 10. The win in Allendale kickstarted the Lakers current nine game winning streak that drove them to claiming their second consecutive regular season GLIAC title.
In the final two games of the regular season, GVSU swept LSSU and Ferris State at home. In the 77-42 victory over Lake State, GVSU clinched the GLIAC title and the number one seed in the tournament.
Ellie Droste went off in the win, scoring a season-high 23 points, burying seven three-pointers along the way. They then closed out the season with a 72-55 victory over Ferris State. It was a balanced scoring effort in the win, with six players scoring nine or more points, led by

Nicole Kamin with 12 apiece.

This will be the 11
th all-time meeting between the two teams, with GVSU leading the series 10-0, and this will be the first time the two programs have met in the GLIAC tournament.
