MIDLAND, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Northwood Friday (Feb. 24) afternoon to improve their win streak to five matches. The Lakers are now 7-1 on the season, while Northwood falls to 0-5.
The Lakers claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Unai Gonzalez and
Sean Miller claimed a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Jack Dausman and
Freddy Cossio tallied a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Sebastian Arce and
Patricio Sepulveda dropped a tough 5-7 decision at No. doubles.
On the singles side,
Jack Dausman claimed a 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 win at No. 2 singles, improving to 5-0 in singles action.
Martin Matov earned a 7-5, 6-4 straight set at No. 3 singles.
Freddy Cossio tallied a 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Ignasi Garros claimed a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 5 singles, while
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 7-6, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers are back on the courts tomorrow (Feb. 25) when they host Hillsdale. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
