PLAINFIELD, Ill. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team improved their winning streak to three after defeating Illinois Springfield 4-2 Friday (Feb. 17) night at Five Star Tennis Center. The Lakers improve to 5-1 on the season.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Unai Gonzalez and
Sean Miller earned a dominate 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles and improved to 3-1 as a pair at the No. 1 doubles position.
Jack Dausman and
Freddy Cossio tallied a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles to improve to 3-1 as a pair on the season all from the No. 2 doubles position.
On the singles side,
Jack Dausman claimed a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 three-set win at No. 3 singles. Dausman improved to 4-0 this season in singles play.
Martin Matov earned a dominate 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles to imprive to 4-1 in singles action this season.
Sebastian Arce dropped a tough 6-4, 4-6, 1-6 decision at No. 1 singles.
Sean Miller dropped a tough 5-7, 3-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will return to the courts tomorrow (Feb. 18) when they take on regional opponent Lewis at Five Star Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 6:30 PM.
