GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis closed the weekend with a 7-0 sweep against Findlay Sunday (Feb. 12) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improve to 4-1 on the season, while Findlay drops to 0-4.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Unai Gonzalez and
Sean Miller claimed a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Jack Dausman and
Freddy Cossio earned a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles, winning the tiebreaker 7-2.
Martin Matov and
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 7-6 win, taking the tiebreaker by a score of 7-2.
On the singles side,
Unai Gonzalez claimed a 6-1, 6-3 straight set at No. 1 singles.
Sean Miller earned a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at No. 2 singles. Miller improved to 4-1 in singles action to start the season.
Jack Dausman tallied a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 singles to improve to 3-0 in singles play this season.
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas rallied to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 three-set win at No. 5 singles, while
Ignasi Garros tallied a 6-2, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will travel to Romeoville, Illinois next weekend for a pair of dual matches against Illinois Springfield and Lewis. GVSU will take on Illinois Springfield on Friday (Feb. 17) at 8:00 PM, before facing the host Lewis on Saturday (Feb. 18) at 6:30 PM. Both matches will be played at Five Star Tennis Center.
