GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Walsh 6-1 Friday afternoon (Feb. 10) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improve to 3-1 on the season, while Walsh falls to 1-2.
The Lakers earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Unai Gonzalez and
Sean Miller earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Jack Dausman and
Freddy Cossio claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Martin Matov and
Patricio Sepulveda lost a tough 6-4 decision at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Unai Gonzalez earned a hard fought 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 three-set win at No. 1 singles. Sean miller claimed a 6-1, 6-0 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Denys Zamaraiev earned a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 three-set win at No. 4 singles in his first dual match appearance as a Laker.
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles and improves to 3-1 in singles play this season.
Freddy Cossio earned a 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 win at No. 6 singles.
