SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. – The GVSU women's volleyball team traveled up to the Upper Peninsula for their final road trip of the regular season this afternoon. In the battle of the two Lakers, GVSU came out on top with a 3-0 sweep, to take both matches against LSSU this season.
 
GVSU won the three matches 25-16, 25-20, and 25-21. Set one was a game of runs, as GVSU used an early 4-0 run to go up 7-4, before LSSU went on a 6-1 run to give them a 10-8 lead. Grand Valley responded with a 7-0 run, then closed out the set on a 4-1 scoring run to win the first set. GV went up 12-7 in the second set, but Lake State came back to tie it at 12, before GVSU was able to string small runs together to retake the lead and take the second set. After LSSU went up 9-7 in the third set, GVSU answered back with a 5-0 run to go up 12-9. They would never relinquish that lead, closing out their 22^nd victory of the season.
 
Jordyn Gates hit .435, totaling 14 kills and 19 assists to lead the offense. Meghan O'Sullivan had nine kills on a .563 hitting percentage, while Sarah Wight had eight kills and five digs. Rachel Jacquay dished out 21 assists and tied Julia Blaney for a team-high eight digs.
