Lakers Defeat Rochester 86-69 Monday Night

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team improved to 3-0 at home after defeating Rochester 86-69 Monday (Nov. 27) night at the Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers improve to 3-3 on the season. 
 
Mason Docks led the Lakers in scoring with 19 points off the bench on 8-12 shooting including three assists and two boards. Marius Grazulis scored 18 points and hauled in six rebounds and dished out two assists. William Dunn added 12 points on 5-6 shooting with six rebounds. Trevon Gunter and Jalen Charity each scored nine points in the win.
 
The game started out seeing four lead changes in the first seven minutes of play. The Lakers would go on a 17-0 run in five minutes to take a 24-8 lead with 9:53 remaining in the first half. GVSU wouldn't let Rochester back under single digits for the rest of the half and took a 44-30 lead into the locker room.
 
In the second half, Rochester scored two quick buckets to cut the lead to 10, but the Lakers responded with a 10-0 to push the lead back up to 20 on a Docks driving layup. The Warriors would go on a 7-0 run to cut the Laker lead to thirteen. With just over nine minutes to play, Rochester would again cut their deficit to 10, but the Lakers would respond and would keep the lead at double digits the rest of the way.
 
The Lakers dominated the glass again, outrebounding the Warriors 46-25, while bringing down 13 offensive rebounds. GVSU shot 52.9% percent from the field and held Rochester to 42.1% from the field. The Laker bench was productive tonight scoring 36 points and bringing down 23 rebounds.
