Lakers Fall 67-63 to Indianapolis Tuesday Night

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team fell 67-63 to Indianapolis Tuesday night at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers drop to 3-4 on the season, while Indianapolis improves to 5-4.
 
GVSU trailed by as many as 14 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game but battled back to tie the game with under two minutes remaining. The Lakers shot 36.4% from the field and 10-22 from three for a 45.5% clip. Indianapolis shot 43.9% from the field and 8-27 from three.
 
The Lakers were led by Trevon Gunter who scored 16 points on 5-11 shooting including four three pointers. Marius Grazulis notched his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 boards. Ethan Alderink added nine points off the bench and hauled in five rebounds including three offensive boards. Trevor Smith led the Lakers with four assists on the night.
 
Indianapolis took a nine-point lead into halftime and was able to push the lead to 14 for their largest of the night with 11:41 remaining in the game. The Lakers would battle back, going on a 10-0 run down 11 to cut the deficit to one with 4:01 left in the game. The Lakers would tie the game at 61-61 with 2:09 left.
 
Indianapolis would hit the go-ahead layup with 49 seconds left in the game and would hang on for the win after draining four free throws to put the game out of reach. 
 
The Lakers will be back at home this Friday (Dec. 8) night when they open up their conference schedule against Davenport for the crosstown showdown. Tipoff is set for 8:00 PM at the Fieldhouse Arena.
