HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team dropped a 76-69 decision at Hillsdale Saturday (Nov. 25) afternoon. The Lakers fall to 2-3 on the season, while Hillsdale improves to 4-1.
Britain Harris led the Lakers with 20 points on 9-18 shooting. Harris also hauled in five boards and dished out two assists, while also swiping one steal.
Marius Grazulis notched his third consecutive double-double scoring 18 points and bringing down 10 rebounds. Grazulis shot 6-14 from the field and went a perfect 6-6 from the line.
It was back and forth action for the first ten minutes of the game that saw seven lead changes. The Lakers had the largest lead at four during that time.
Jalen Charity notched a layup to give the Lakers their largest lead of the game with just over six minutes remaining in the first half. GVSU would end up keeping the lead at the end of the first half leading 30-26.
In the second half, Hillsdale would go on a 15-5 run in the first six minutes of the half to take a 43-35 lead. The Chargers would push the lead to double digits on a three pointer with just over 12 minutes left in the game and then would knock down a three with 11:30 left. Hillsdale would maintain their double-digit lead until the Lakers would cut their deficit to three at 72-69 with twelve seconds left. Hillsdale would knock down a pair of free throws to seal the game winning 76-69.
