ALLENDALE—The Grand Valley State men's basketball team snapped a four-game winning streak on Saturday, dropping an afternoon matchup to Parkside, 73-62.

Marius Grazulis and
Chinedu Kingsley Okanu scroed 14 points apiece to lead the Lakers in scoring on Saturday. The Laker bigs went a combined 14-for-19 from the field. Grazulis,
Britain Harris,
Trevon Gunter,
Daniel Kiely and
Jalen Charity finished in a five-way tie atop the rebounding category for GVSU, each grabbing four rebounds. Harris, Grazulis, Gunter and Kiely also all tied for the GVSU lead in assists with two each.

GVSU (12-9, 6-5 GLIAC) started strong and held a lead as late as 3:26 in the first half. Parkside (15-6, 8-3 GLIAC) used strong shooting from deep to take the lead and add cushion to it in the second half.

Charity played well early for the Lakers, scoring nine first-half points, going 4-for-5 from the field in the first half of play. All four of his rebounds also came in the first half.Â

GVSU had success down low, led by the strong play of Grazulis and Okanu. The Lakers outscored Parkside in the paint, 42-34. GVSU also outrebounded the Rangers, 31-28.

The Lakers return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday when they face crosstown foe Davenport in Caledonia.
