GRAND HAVEN, MICH. – The first annual Folds of Honor Collegiate wrapped up this afternoon at the American Dune Golf Club, and the Grand Valley men's golf program ended the event in 11
th place, beating seven Division I schools.
Illinois won the tournament at -10, followed by Arizona (+5), Florida State (+10), Oregon State (+13) in fourth, Liberty (+15) finished fifth, Kansas (+16) was sixth, in seventh was Michigan State (+19), just ahead of eighth place NC State (+20). Clemson was ninth at +26, while UCLA came in 10
th at +35, with GVSU in 11
th at forty over. The Lakers finished in front of Division I schools Air Force, Navy, CMU, Eastern Michigan, Army, Virginia Union, and Texas Southern.
Charles DeLong and
Drew Coble tied for 14
th place (+3) in the tournament after Coble shot a 75 (+3) today with two birdies, while DeLong shot a 77 (+5) during the final round.
Nick Krueger and
Charlie Cooley both finished tied for 59
th (+18) after Cooley shot a 74 (+4) with five birdies during today's round, and Krueger carded an 80 (+8) today with a birdie.
Bryce Wheeler ended the tournament tied for 76
th (+27) with a score of 86 (+14) today.
Up Next
The Lakers will play in the Folds of Honor Invitational Qualifier for next year's tournament next week Monday and Tuesday. The event will be held at the Meadows Golf Course in Allendale.
