ALLENDALE, MICH. –The Grand Valley women's golf team closed out their home tournament by climbing up a spot and finishing in second place as a team and placing two individuals in the top-10.
Findlay won the tournament, carding a 607 (297, 310), while Grand Valley was second at 617 (306, 311) after jumping Tiffin who came in third 619 (301, 318). Walsh was fourth at 631 (306, 325), and Ferris State and SVSU tied for fifth, shooting 634.
"We finished only 10 shots back of the defending national champions on a day when we didn't have our A game, which is promising for this group," said head coach
Rebecca Mailloux.
Olivia Stoll claimed her second top-5 finish of the season, as she came in tied for third place, carding a 149 (+5) after rounds of 77 and 72, birdieing five holes in the final round of play.
Paula Badino was seventh at 152 (+8), shooting a 74 and a 78, tallying four birdies for the tournament.
Julia Sanchez and
Megan Miron were both tied for 20
th, shooting 158 (+14), and combined to record seven birdies throughout the tournament.
