ALLENDALE, Mich. - Grand Valley State men's indoor track and field team has been named the USTFCCCA National Scholar Team of the Year for the fourth time in program history. The Lakers won the 2022 NCAA DII Indoor Championships while maintaining a 3.16 cumulative GPA.  

Elli Kimes was awarded the Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Co-Scholar Field Athlete of the Year. This is the first time in program history that a Laker field athlete has won the title. Kimes won the women's pole vault event at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships clearing a height of 4.25m.

24 Laker women, and 13 men were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. To qualify, athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, completed 24 semester hours at the institution, and must have achieved an provisional qualifying mark for either the indoor or outdoor season.
