#10 Grand Valley State claimed a 16-4 victory over Notre Dame College Saturday afternoon at the GVSU lacrosse field. The Lakers improve to 8-1 on the year and will next be in action Friday, March 25 at 3 p.m. versus Concordia-St. Paul to open league action.
The Lakers scored early and often versus Notre Dame, bolting out to an 8-1 lead after one quarter of action. Senior Sophia Conroy gave the Lakers all the scoring they would need on her own with five first period goals.
Maddy Champagne,
Kate DeYoung and
Olivia Esposito added goals in the opening stanza, while
Sydney Stone, McKenna Kincaid, DeYoung (2) and
Maggie Hammer chipped in helpers. GVSU added five additional goals in the second quarter and led 13-4 at the half. Esposito netted a pair, whle DeYoung, Conroy and
Hailey Crittenden each put one in the back of the net. Crittenden,
Ashleigh Rothe and
Molly Bursinger tallied second half goals for the Lakers.
Conroy led the offense with six goals, while Esposito recorded three goals, Crittenden and DeYoung scored two each. Hammer delivered three assists and DeYoung a pair. Sema Hasahof started in goal and recorded one save, while
Kaylyn Cater played the final 30 minutes and notched three saves.
