GVSU Men and Women Sweep Findlay

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Grand Valley State Men's and Women's tennis team opened up the spring season by defeating Findlay Sunday (Feb. 3). The men tallied a 7-0 win, while the women won 6-1. 

Women - Findlay claimed the doubles point with wins from No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Marija Leko and Marily Canellopoulos claimed a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles, winning the tiebreaker 7-2. On the singles side, Vera Griva claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while Marija Leko tallied a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Vasileia Griva (6-3, 6-1) and Taylor Barrett (7-5, 6-2) added straight set wins from No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Estefania Hernandez earned a hard fought 1-6, 7-5, 10-4 win from No. 5 singles, while Marily Canellopoulos claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win from No. 6 singles.

Men - The Lakers claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Josep Canyadell and Sean Miller claimed a 6-4 win from No. 1 doubles, while Jack Dausman and Tomas Oliveira tallied a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. On the singles side, Josep Canyadell claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Sean Miller tallied a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win from No. 2 singles. Tomas Oliveira claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, while Martin Matov added a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles. Jack Dausman chipped in a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9 win from No. 5 singles, while Kushan Shah claimed a 6-2, 1-6, 11-9 win at No. 6 singles.

The Lakers men's and women's tennis team hosts Indiana Wesleyan Thursday, February 10 at Premier Athletic & Tennis Club beginning at 11:30 AM.
