ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team fell, 85-81, to the Northern Michigan Wildcats Thursday (Feb. 10) night at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers drop their third straight game and now sit at 14-8 on the season and 8-7 in GLIAC play. The team is back in action for Sawyers Day on Saturday (Feb. 12) at 3 PM against the Michigan Tech Huskies.
The Lakers were up 33-23 with four minutes left in the first half, but a pair of and-ones led Northern Michigan on a quick comeback to force a 41-41 tie at half time. The teams traded leads the first five minutes of the second half, but NMU pulled away for a 16-point lead with seven minutes to go. The Lakers fought back within four down the stretch, but couldn't complete the comeback. The Lakers are back in action on Saturday at 3 PM.
