ALLENDALE, MICH. – Coming off their highest offensive performance of the season, the Grand Valley women's basketball team kept rolling right along this afternoon versus Davenport. The Lakers jumped out to a quick lead on the Panthers and never looked back, rolling to a 92-47 victory to move to 9-0.
Grand Valley jumped out to a 10-0 lead to open the game, as
Courtney Sharland got consecutive layups and forced a Davenport timeout. After the Panthers finally got on the board,
Hannah Kulas responded with a three to ignite a 14-4 run to end the quarter with the Lakers leading 24-6.
Another Kulas three began the scoring in the second quarter and extended the Laker lead beyond 20 points at 27-6. After a Panther three,
Hadley Miller made a layup and drilled a three, then
Abrie Cabana added a three of her own as the Laker offense kept cruising right along. Davenport kept battling back, scoring 16 points in the quarter to cut their deficit to 22 points, but GVSU responded with a 6-0 run to close out the half, capped off by
Hadley Miller's second three of the game.
The Lakers continued to stay hot from deep to open the third quarter, getting threes from
Emily Spitzley and Kulas as the lead grew to over 30 points at 60-27.
Ellie Droste hit one from deep to ignite a 15-6 run to end the quarter, and the Lakers went into the final frame up 75-35.
Davenport was able to mount a small run to open the quarter, outscoring GVSU 6-2 to open the quarter, before
Molly Anderson would respond with back-to-back threes to put the lead back over 40 points. The lead never fell below that mark for the rest of the game as a
Macy Bisballe triple put the Lakers over 90 points for the second straight game, and iced a 45-point win.
Hannah Kulas had a monster game off the bench for the Lakers, knocking down five threes to put up a season-high 17 points.
Molly Anderson put up a career-high 10 points, knocking down two threes, and pulling down four rebounds.
Ellie Droste and
Hadley Miller also score 10 points, and Miller added four assists, four rebounds, and four steals.
Courtney Sharland grabbed five rebounds and blocked five Panther shots. The Laker defense forced 22 turnovers and blocked eight shots, as they held the Panthers to their second lowest point total of the season.
