ST. LOUIS—The Grand Valley State men's basketball lost, 81-75, in its second game of the St. Louis Union Station Hotel UMSL Thanksgiving Classic to Maryville on Wednesday afternoon inside of the Mark Twain Building.

Marius Grazulis led the Lakers in scoring with 16 points. The effort came in his second start of the season. Grazulis is averaging 13 points in a starting role this season. Grazulis also collected five rebounds for the Lakers on Wednesday afternoon.

Ethan Alderink also got into double figures for the Lakers, scoring 11 points. Alderink added two rebounds, one assist and three steals. The forward was a perfect 4-for-4 on shots inside the 3-point line.

Jalen Charity led the Lakers in rebounding with six boards and
Trevor Smith led GVSU in assists with five.

GVSU (2-4) was in another tight one, trailing by just one basket, 40-38, after a back-and-forth first half.

The Saints (5-1) gained an 11-point advantage at one point in the second half, but the Lakers kept fighting, bringing the deficit to as little as four before they went back-and-forth with Maryville again and were forced to play the foul game late.

The Lakers forced 14 turnovers and capitalized on them, scoring 20 points off of Maryville turnovers. The Saints came up with just 13 points off of GVSU turnovers. The Lakers played another close game that saw six lead changes and six ties.

GVSU's next game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Saturday against Michigan-Dearborn inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena and will conclude a day full of Laker action in Allendale.
