Celebration of Life Information

Jaden Blake, a sophomore track & field student-athlete at Grand Valley State, passed away on Sunday, November 13th from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Saturday, November 5th. Blake, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was a pole vaulter who competed during the 2021-22 season for the Lakers. 

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jaden and we ask that you keep his family, friends and teammates in your prayers," said GVSU Director of Athletics Keri Becker. "He positively impacted his teammates during his time at Grand Valley State and left the world with one final act of kindness as he donated his organs to save the lives of others."
 
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois at 2:30 pm (CT).

In addition, the Grand Valley State track & field team will hold a candlelight vigil Monday, November 28, 2022 at the GVSU Campus Clock Tower at 7:00 pm.
