ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's soccer team will begin their quest for a third consecutive national championship tomorrow (Nov. 13) when they face Maryville in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional semifinals at the GVSU Soccer Field at 1:00 PM. The Lakers were named the one seed in the Midwest Region and received a bye in the first round.
The Lakers claimed the GLIAC Tournament Championship for the 15
th time in program history last weekend. GVSU defeated Ferris State 3-0 in the GLIAC semifinals last Friday, before defeating Northern Michigan 2-1 in the championship match on Sunday.

Mackenzie Jones, and
Kacy Lauer were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lakers enter the NCAA Tournament with a 15-2-4 record and a five game-winning streak. GVSU has outscored their opponents 19-2 over those last five matches.
Taylor Reid leads the Laker attack with 14 goals on the season and 30 points. Reid has notched six goals in the last four games and was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Kennedy Bearden leads the Lakers with seven assists and 33 points on the season. Goalkeeper
Kendall Robertson has started all 21 matches this season in goal for the Lakers and has posted seven shutouts and a 0.66 goals-against average.
This will be the second time the Lakers and Maryville meet this season. The Lakers defeated Maryville 1-0 in the second game of the season in St. Louis.
Ryann Fetty scored the lone goal in the 15' minute. The Lakers outshot the Saints 14-6 and led 8-4 in corner kick. Robertson made three saves to post her first complete shutout of the year.
Maryville enters Sunday's match with a 12-2-6 record and are riding a four-game win streak. The Saints defeated Northern Michigan 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Last weekend, Maryville won the GLVC Tournament for the first time in program history after defeating Illinois Springfield 2-1 in the championship.
The Saints are led by junior Lexi Gentry and redshirt freshman Ashlyne Hunt with seven goals each. Gentry has dished out three assists to lead Maryville with 17 points this season. Graduate Madison Canoy has added four goals and two assists for 14 points. Senior Katie Nash has appeared and started in 20 games in between the pipes for the Saints. Nash has posted 11 shutouts and a 0.51 goals-against average.
