ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released their award winners and all-conference teams for the 2022 season this evening (Nov. 10), and Grand Valley placed four members across the three all-conference teams.
 
Freshman setter Jordyn Gates earned All-GLIAC First-Team honors after posting an outstanding first season in Allendale. Gates started all 30 matches this year, and played in all 110 sets, and led the team in kills (315) and digs (376), while being second in assists at 607. She ranked in the top ten in the conference in all three of those categories and is currently tied for the nation's lead in triple-doubles (kills, assists, digs) with 11. Gates has 10 or more kills in 17 games this year, double-digit assists in every game, and 20 games with double-digit digs.
 
For the second consecutive season, junior middle blocker Sarah Wight was named to the All-GLIAC Second-Team. Wight started all 30 matches this season and was the team leader in blocks at 75, 17 solo and 58 assists, and was the most efficient attacker for GV, swinging at a .288 clip. Wight tallied 268 kills, which placed her in the top-20 in the league, while her 75 blocks had her tied for 10th in the conference. Eleven times this season Wight has recorded double-digit kills and she has three or more blocks in 13 contests.
 
Freshman outside hitter Kendall Stover was named to the All-GLIAC Second-Team, as she was one of the top attackers for the Lakers this year. Over her 29 appearances, Stover was second on the team with 312 kills, and led the team with three kills per set. She also had 19 service aces, 202 digs, and 20 blocks. She was 11th in the conference in kills and 10th in kills per set. Stover tallied double-digit kills in 19 games this season, including the past seven contests.
 
Another returning All-GLIAC honoree is junior setter Rachel Jacquay, who earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors this year, after earning First-Team accolades last season. Jacquay, who appeared in all 30 matches, led the team with 640 assists and 5.82 assists per set. Jacquay also leads the team in service aces at 26 and has 252 digs. Her 640 assists put her 8th in the league, and her 5.82 assists per set rank her seventh in the league. Jacquay has been passed out double-digit assists in every single game this season, and has surpassed 20 assists in 19 games.
