Men's Golf Atop Leaderboard After Round One

Three Lakers Are In The Top 10, And GVSU Holds A Six-Stroke Lead

DEARBORN, MICH. – The Grand Valley men's golf program kicked off their final tournament of the fall season today at the Motor City Invitational at the TPC of Michigan. After the 18 holes of play today, the Lakers are in first place once again, holding a six stroke advantage with 36 holes left to play.
 
The Lakers shot a 296 (+8) today and leads by six strokes over second-place Tiffin (+14). Host Wayne State (+15) is in third, Ferris State (+19) is fourth, and Wayne State's C Team is in fifth at twenty-four over.
 
Charles DeLong is once again in contention for the lead, sitting in second place at -1, shooting a 71 today with three birdies. Nick Krueger is in fifth at one over, carding a 73 with three birdies. Charlie Cooley is tied for sixth place at two over. Cooley shot a 74 with four birdies in round one. Drew Coble and Andrew Gwilliams are both tied for 18th at +6, shooting 78s today. Coble carded two birdies, while Gwilliams had also had two. Alex Jordan was the lone individual for the Lakers, and he ended round one in a tie for 40th at ten over after recording two birdies today.
