ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis defeated Cornerstone 6-1 to open dual match play Friday (Oct. 7) at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The Lakers improve their record to 1-0, while Cornerstone falls to 1-2.
The Lakers secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Sean Miller and
Jack Dausman earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while
Martin Matov and
Patricio Sepulveda claimed a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Sean Miller claimed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 three set win at No. 2 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda earned a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Jack Dausman added a straight set 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas earned a 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, while
Ignasi Garros claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
Sebastian Arce dropped a tough three set decision at No. 1 singles.
The Lakers will return to the courts tomorrow (Oct. 8) afternoon for a dual match against Grace College at the GVSU Tennis Courts in Allendale. First serve is set for 2:00 PM.
