The Game
This will be the first-ever meeting between Grand Valley State and American International. The Lakers did play a NE10 opponent, Bentley, during the 2003 season. GVSU claimed a 65-36 victory in the NCAA playoff matchup held in Waltham, Mass. GVSU enters the game 5-0 and ranked #2 in the country, while American International is 0-4.Â

Grand Valley State is ranked #2 in both the American Football Coaches' Association and D2Football.com polls. The Lakers are 204-35 when ranked since 2001, including a record of 81-6 when ranked #1.Â
