ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's volleyball team returned home for GLIAC play tonight in a matchup with Michigan Tech. After being tied at one set apiece heading into set three, the Huskies were able to gain momentum and win the next two sets to take the match 3-1.
The Huskies were able to take set one after a back and forth beginning thanks to a 9-2 scoring run to end the set. The Lakers responded strong is set two, dominating MTU for a 25-12 set win to even the match. In set three, Michigan Tech again used a late scoring run, this one a 9-4 run, to take the set 25-19. The Huskies took control early in set four and never looked back, taking it 25-15 to win the match.
Kendall Stover led the offense with 13 kills, swinging at a .323 clip.
Jaelianna Primus added 11 kills and four total blocks, while
Sarah Wight contributed 10 kills.
Jordyn Gates had 26 assists, 11 digs, and eight kills and
Rachel Jacquay dished out 24 assists.
McKenzie Johnson dug out 20 balls and
Emily Holbrook had 16.
Grand Valley is now 14-9 on the year and 7-5 in GLIAC play, while Michigan Tech is now 15-7 and 7-5 in the conference.
