ASHLAND, Ohio – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team dominated Ashland, 20-2, on Friday night to earn a bounce-back win following Thursday night's loss to Roberts Wesleyan. GVSU led the match from the wire to wire to earn the ninth win on the season.
The Lakers jumped out to score 12 unanswered goals in the first half. Freshman
Hailey Crittenden added a hat trick within six minutes, marking her career high. Senior
Sophie Conroy added three goals in each half to lead the game, while
Molly Bursinger led the team from the draw with four.
Despite a couple goals from the Eagles in the second half, GVSU managed to net 20 goals and hold their opponents to just a pair of goals for the third time in 11 games.
Audrey Maloney picked up four ground balls and allowed just one goal with six saves to earn the win.
Following the 18-point victory, the Lakers hold a 16.36 goals per game average while allowing just 6.36 from their opponents. The Lakers and Eagles conclude the two-game series on Sunday afternoon with a noon draw.
