ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 8 Grand Valley State Lakers fell No. 21 Roberts Wesleyan, 12-9, on Thursday night. GVSU drops to 8-2 entering the final week of regular season play.

Maddy Champagne was left scoreless. Seniors
Olivia Esposito (3) and
Sophie Conroy (2) led the team with multiple goals while
Maggie Hammer and
Kate DeYoung each found the back of the net once. Sophomore
Molly Bursinger led the game from the draw with eight controls.
After being down the first 28 minutes of the game, Conroy netted a game-tying goal to even it at five. Entering the half, GVSU topped Roberts Wesleyan, 7-6. Despite a quick goal by Hammer in the first minute of the second half, the Redhawks followed with four unanswered goals in 10 minutes. In the net,
Audrey Maloney posted a save percentage of .478, blocking 11 attempts.
Leigha Johnson,
Rhys Green and Champagne each caused a turnover, while
Anna Gritter and Champagne picked up two ground balls.
GVSU returns to action tomorrow in game one of a weekend pair with Ashland. The last and only meeting between the two teams saw the Lakers post a 20-7 decision.
