The Grand Valley State Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) has continued to work together and organize fundraising efforts that will benefit the greater Grand Valley State community during this COVID academic year. The Lakers' most recent fundraiser, "Linking Together" raised $578 that will be distributed to the organization that were selected by each varsity athletic team. Teams were assigned a color strip of paper and these strips of paper were sold for $1, with an opportunity for an additional donation beyond the $1. The strips of paper were distributed to each team to sign and write a positive message that were then linked together and displayed in the GVSU Fieldhouse. This SAAC fundraiser served as an opportunity to support the GVSU community, while also feeling a sense of connectedness within the GVSU student-athlete community.
"On behalf of the GVSU SAAC, I want to extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone for their contributions to our Linking Together fundraiser," said SAAC President Hannah Beatus. "The links are officially together and on display in the trophy hallway of the fieldhouse. Through the generous donations, teams were able to raise a combined $578 that will benefit several organizations. It has been a year of uncertainty, but one thing we are certain of is the support, connection and love we feel from our GVSU community," added Beatus.
The GVSU SAAC will continue to fundraise through the academic year to support several organizations of choice.
