Box Score Grand Valley State claimed a 6-1 victory over Belmont Abbey Thursday (Mar. 4) in Belmont, N.C. The Lakers, who improve to 2-1 on the season, will face Wingate Friday (Mar. 5) at 2 p.m.

GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at all three slots. Marily Canellopoulos and Marija Leko claimed a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Vera Griva and Taylor Barrett won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Vasileia Griva and Liv Hanover won a 6-1 decision at the No. 3 position. 

Grand Valley State won five singles matches in straight sets. Barrett claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, followed by Leko claiming a 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 3. Vasileia Griva dominated in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, Hanover won a 6-4, 6-4 matchup at No. 5 singles and Olivia Huang closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
