GVSU Women's Tennis Claims 6-1 GLIAC Win Over Wayne State

Lakers improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC action

Box Score The Grand Valley State women's tennis team claimed a 6-1 GLIAC win over Wayne State Saturday (Mar. 20) at MVP Athletic Club. The Lakers, who improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC action, will hit the road for league matches at Saginaw Valley State (Mar. 26) and Northwood (Mar. 27). 

Wayne State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Vera Griva and Taylor Barrett claimed a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. GVSU claimed all six singles matches, three of which three sets. Vera Griva claimed 4-6, 6-5, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, followed by Taylor Barrett claiming a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Marija Leko tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles and Marily Canellopoulos recorded a 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. Vasileia Griva notched a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and Liv Hanover claimed a tough 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 win at No. 6 singles.
