GVSU Volleyball Sweeps Ashland, 3-0

Lakers improve to 7-2

The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team claimed a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-23, 25-22) over Ashland Friday (Mar. 19) night at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in matchup of the top two teams in the GLIAC South division. The Lakers, 7-2 overall and in GLIAC action, will host the Eagles (6-3) Saturday (Mar. 20) at 4 p.m. 

GVSU dominated the match in every facet statistically, including a 49-35 advantage in kills. The Lakers hit .223 for the match recorded just 18 attack errors in 139 total attacks. In addition, Grand Valley State notched 11 total blocks and 70 digs. 

Ali Thompson led the Lakers with 19 kills and a .320 attack percentage, while Jaelianna Primus tallied collected 12 kills and a team-best .385 attack percentage. Abby Graham led the defense with 23 digs, followed by Rachel Jacquay with 17 digs and Lisa Sullivan's 16. Jacquay recorded 45 assists and two service aces.
