No. 11 Lakers down Oilers, 18-4

GVSU hands Findlay second straight loss

FINDLAY, Ohio – The No. 11 Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 as they took down Findlay, 18-4, on Wednesday.  The all-time record between the Lakers and Oilers now favors GVSU, 8-0.

Olivia Esposito picked up the first goal of the game within two minutes and did not look back.  After three more back-and-forth goals, the Lakers added six straight nets to land steady at 8-2 with 10 minutes to go in the half.  GVSU entered the half with a dominant 10-3 lead, thanks to a hat trick by Esposito and two goals apiece from Molly Bursinger, Maddy Champagne and Sophie Conroy

The Lakers remained in control from the start of the second half as they outscored the Oilers, 8-1.  On defense, Abigail Dengler and Payton Neil each recorded saves in the net while Anna Gritter picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers.  Champagne won a game-high eight draw controls.

For the second consecutive game, at least four players scored multiple times as Bursinger, Conroy, Champagne and Esposito found the back of the net at least twice.  GVSU finishes a two-game road trip with a match-up at Indiana (Pa.) on Friday, March 12.
