DETROIT, Mich. – The Grand Valley State volleyball team earned a split with Wayne State (25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 25-17) on Friday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 3-1 overall, while Wayne State also sits at 3-1.

Abby Graham (11), finished with double-digit kills and Wesley recorded a .360 attack percentage. Setter
Rachel Jacquay had a season-high 43 assists, while
Ali Thompson had a team-high 22 digs.
Jaelianna Primus chipped in with eight total blocks and eight kills. As a team, the Lakers outhit Wayne State (.181-.097) and held the advantage in kills (53-38), assists (48-31), total blocks (12-8), and digs (65-56).
The first set was back-and-forth with multiple lead changes. GVSU trailed 20-17 before scoring eight out of the next nine points to grab a first set victory. The Lakers controlled the lead early in the second set, but Wayne State came back and took a 13-12 lead and never trailed the rest of the set.
GVSU flipped the script from yesterday and dominated the final two sets of the match. The Lakers jumped out to a 10-4 lead in set three and grew their lead to 19-12 before closing out the third set. GVSU led for the entirety of set four and finished the match by scoring six out of the final seven points.
The Lakers will be back in action next Friday at Saginaw Valley with first serve set for 5:30 PM.
