ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 18 Grand Valley State women's basketball team fell on Friday afternoon to Northwood, 82-59, at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers drop to 13-4 overall and Northwood improves to 11-6. The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
Freshman
Ellie Droste scored a career-high 18 points to lead the Lakers, while
Hannah Kulas also finished in double-figures with 15 points.
Samantha Gehrls had a team-high six rebounds and three assists.
The Lakers opened up a 19-8 lead halfway through the first quarter and led 24-17 entering the second quarter. Northwood would tie the game at 35-35 with 1:59 left in the half, but GVSU finished the half on a 7-2 run and led 42-37 at the break.
The Timberwolves outscored GVSU 26-3 in the third quarter and led by as many as 25 points late in the fourth quarter.
