Men's Basketball falls at Michigan Tech Saturday

Groggy start sinks Lakers, snaps four-game win streak

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Grand Valley State Laker men's basketball team had their four-game win streak snapped in a 75-62 loss to the Michigan Tech Huskies Saturday (Feb. 20) at the SDC Gym. The Lakers, who split the trip to the Upper Peninsula, drop to 9-6 on the season.

Jordan Harris led the Laker attack with 23 points, connecting on four threes, while Christian Negron had seven points and 11 rebounds and Jake Van Tubbergen compiled 11 points in just 17 minutes before eventually fouling out.

The Huskies scored 22 of the first 24 points of the game, which tipped off at 11 AM. The Lakers trailed by 21 points with five minutes left in the half before going on a 9-0 run to get back within striking distance and would trail, 40-26, at halftime. The Lakers would outscore Michigan Tech by a point in the second half, but it wasn't enough to recover from the groggy start.

The Lakers wrap up the regular season with two games at Northwood next weekend, beginning Friday at 6 PM. Visit GVSULakers.com and follow @GVSUBasketball on social media for coverage information.
