MARQUETTE, Mich. – The No. 11 ranked Grand Valley State women's basketball team finished off the sweep of Northern Michigan on Sunday by a score of 58-32. The Lakers move their win streak to eight games and are now 12-1 on the season. NMU falls to 7-6.
Freshman
Ellie Droste scored a team-high 12 points, while junior

Today's game featured another slow start for both teams, but GVSU ended the final 4:37 of the first quarter on an 11-0 run, capped by a 45-foot jump shot from Droste at the first quarter horn. GVSU continued to build their lead in the second quarter and led 29-14 entering the break.
GVSU kept pouring it on in the third quarter. The Lakers began the first four minutes of the frame on a 12-4 run and increased their lead to 41-18. The defense continued to hold strong throughout the second half, holding NMU to less than 10 points in both the third and fourth quarters.
The Lakers will have a long bus trip home today and must turnaround to play Davenport at home on Tuesday night (Feb. 16) with a 6:00 PM tip.
