INDIANAPOLIS – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team opened their season with a wire-to-wire win over the Indianapolis Greyhounds Sunday (Nov. 14) afternoon at Nicoson Hall. The Lakers get an important road win against a regional opponent to start the season 1-0 while the Greyhounds fall to 1-1.
Jake Van Tubbergen scored 25 points and snagged 12 rebounds to lead the Lakers, who were dominant on both ends of the floor.
Isaac Gassman opened the game with a three and the Lakers never looked back in the wire-to-wire win. Gassman finished with 11 points and
Marius Grazulis contributed 10.
Grand Valley State held UIndy to just eight points through the first 10 minutes of play and had a 14-point lead at half time. They would balloon it as large as 24 with just over eight minutes to go, capped by a huge defensive steal by
Deleon Brown, leaking an outlet down the floor to hometown kid
Jordan Harris who lofted a perfect pass for Van Tubbergen to alley-oop home.
The Lakers return home next Saturday (Nov. 20) to host Cedarville at 5:00 PM. The game will air on 1340 AM The Ticket and video is available at
