Lakers Fall In Three Sets to Ferris

GVSU Volleyball Late Efforts Not Enough

The Grand Valley State volleyball team  fell to Ferris State on Friday, October 29. GVSU is now 7-4 in conference play and 14-8 overall.  

After coming out strong in the first set, the Lakers led 14-9. Ferris went on a 16-4 run to win the match 25-18. In set two, the Bulldog's quick offense allowed them to lead the set 12-8.The Lakers struggled to come back and fell in set two 25-21. GVSU came out with a quick lead in set three with a 8-5 advantage. Ferris came back to tie the set up at 13-13. The Lakers and Bulldogs went on small runs until the set was tied again at 21-21. Despite the Lakers late efforts to close out the set, the Lakers fell in the third and final set 26-24.  

Grand Valley State finished with 42 kills, a .140 kill percentage, 69 digs, and two blocks. The Lakers were led by junior Jaelianna Primus with 12 kills, followed by senior Abby Graham with 10 kills and 13 digs. Junior Lisa Sullivan also tallied nine kills and freshman libero Julia Blaney finished with 14 digs. Junior setter Rachel Jacquay dished out 31 assists for the Lakers.  

GVSU Volleyball is back in action tomorrow against the Davenport Panthers at 4:00 p.m.
