The Grand Valley State volleyball team defeated the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Saturday, Oct. 2 at home. The Lakers extended their conference record to 4-1 and overall record to 8-5.
After winning the first set 25-23, Grand Valley State got off to a quick 4-1 lead in set two. Maintaining the lead the entirety off the set, the Lakers won set two 25-17. Heading into set three, the Lakers took the lead 9-2 and again, led the entirety of the set. GVSU defeated the Rangers 25-10 in set three.
Grand Valley finished with 38 kills, a .239 kill percentage, 10 blocks, and 60 digs.
The Lakers were led by senior Ali Thompson, who finished with 12 kills and nine digs. Junior Jaelianna Primus finished with nine kills and four blocks, followed by junior Lisa Sullivan who tallied six kills and three blocks. Senior Abby Graham also tallied four kills and 10 digs. Junior setter, Rachel Jacquay, dished out 34 assists.
The Lakers are back in action at home on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 1:00 p.m. against Purdue Northwest.
